Delivering full confidence in the data
that fuels your business decisions.

Business Information Excellence is a service that establishes robust data governance, quality standards, and reporting practices, so that executives can trust the information they use for strategic and operational decisions. It ensures data is accurate, consistent, complete, and compliant across systems and processes.

Many organizations suffer from fragmented data landscapes, inconsistent reporting, untrustworthy data caused by hidden quality issues, and a lack of clear ownership. This results in flawed decision-making, delayed insights, regulatory risks, inefficient operations, and significant doubt when leaders review key performance metrics or financial reports.

In an environment where data volume is exploding and the cost of poor decisions is higher than ever, leaders need more than just technology — they need a trusted information foundation that turns raw data into reliable, actionable intelligence.

It prioritizes decision-critical information and measurable improvements in trust and usability. No two organizations have the same data challenges, so we tailor our methods to the client’s industry, systems, and leadership priorities without having a preferential methodology.

Our method is to work collaboratively with business and IT teams to understand real-life decision-making needs, then implement practical governance that delivers quick wins while building long-term excellence.

  1. Information Excellence Healthcheck — Thorough analysis of existing data quality, reporting processes, pain points, and decision-making bottlenecks.
  2. Target Information Model — Co-design of future-state data governance, quality standards, and reporting architecture aligned with business priorities.
  3. Prioritized Implementation — Focused execution on high-impact areas such as key reports, master data, or compliance-critical domains, delivering rapid improvements in data trust.
  4. Sustainment & Optimization — Establishment of ongoing monitoring, governance routines, and cultural practices to maintain excellence over time.

There is a great variety of complementing business cases to build Business Information Excellence alongside with, from modernizing enterprise reporting platforms and ensuring regulatory compliance, to supporting large-scale digital transformations and post-merger data integration.

Past Successes

An Orrery consultant conducted a comprehensive assessment for one of the leading private banks in Central Europe in anticipation of the regulatory necessity to report data in accordance with principles of Basel III. In addition to that, the bank faced challenges driven by year of technical debt and paper-based processes, with inconsistent data across core banking systems, regulatory reports, and management dashboards, which undermined leadership confidence in key financial and risk metrics.

Through detailed data profiling, quality rule implementation, and gap analysis against regulatory requirements, Orrery identified critical issues in data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness, and delivered a prioritized remediation roadmap and governance recommendations.

As a result, the bank significantly improved the reliability of its regulatory and management reporting, reduced manual reconciliation efforts, and strengthened executive trust in the data used for strategic decision-making and risk management.

An Orrery consultant delivered the modernization and ongoing evolution of CEE region-level Loyalty Club reporting data based on country specific business and regulatory requirements. Orrery led continuous adaptation of reports to maintain compliance with rapidly changing heated tobacco legislation while upgrading technical foundations.

Orrery successfully brought 70% of the Loyalty Club reporting to modern standards using fully compliant processes and high-quality data. This significantly improved the reliability and timeliness of key business metrics used by leadership for performance tracking and strategic decisions.

The project reduced risk from regulatory non-compliance and gave executives greater confidence in the accuracy of the data underpinning their regional business strategies and customer program effectiveness.

A leading e-commerce retailer in the beauty and cosmetics sector attached an Orrery consultant to review data feeding reporting on customer activity and online sales. Rapid, start-up-like expansion had created fragmented data sources and quality issues that affected demand planning, performance reporting, and marketing effectiveness.

Orrery performed end-to-end analysis of key reporting datasets, implemented data quality controls, and designed sustainable governance processes tailored to a fast-moving retail environment.

The engagement delivered measurable improvements in data accuracy and consistency, enabling more reliable business intelligence and confident decision-making across commercial, supply chain, and marketing teams.

Orrer assisted a state organization responsible for national road and motorway infrastructure in evaluating the efficiency of devices that send data to their integrated centre for road infracturcutre reporting, that is then used to evaluate road utilisation, need for repairs and toll collection strategy for cargo lorries.

The client also had an arrangement with the manufacturers of these devices that these would operate the devices at their own expense, while the client would pay them per batches of delivered data. The client wanted to know how much they have been paying, how quality was the data being delivered, and thus whether or not have they been overpaying for a low-quality service.

By assessing data flows across multiple legacy systems and external partners, he uncovered quality gaps and established clear ownership, validation rules, and monitoring mechanisms. The project resulted not only in substantially more accurate and reliable reporting, but also exposed gaps in efficiency in the entire reporting process, driven by lax approach of several stakeholders that cost the client hundreds of thousands of €.
